I really thought I would mourn the loss of my Geo Prism this past summer but my new 2007 Camry Hybrid just keeps getting better and better. I LOVE driving it! It's so comfortable, quiet and beautiful. I keep volunteering to drive my friends and family. My Camry favs are:
--Quiet AC in a well insulated car (I'm in Texas!)
--Lumbar support. (I could sit in this car for hours and not develop back pain!)
--Bright Headlights (It's dark in rural Texas with lots of wild night critters!)
--Navigation System (Easy to use, accurate and soothing voice. Even Joe's BMW navigation just doesn't come close to Camry's!)

Customer View Compared to Toyota View of Itself

In their recent Hybrid newsletter, Toyota wrote several flattering items in the article, "US-Built Camry Hybrid to Hit the Road" describing the new Camry Hybrid. I just wanted to offer you my feedback about what Toyota says about itself.

NEWSLETTER: Toyota's 2007 Camry Hybrid has been rated by the EPA at 40 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway.
NERISSA: I average 37 mpg in the Texas Hillcountry. Hillcountry means "highway with hills." So 37 mpg is grrreat for hillcountry!

NEWSLETTER: The Camry Hybrid has a zero-to-60 time of 8.9 seconds. Like Toyota's other hybrid-powered vehicles, this is a "full hybrid," which means the system varies power between gas and electric or both, as needed.
NERISSA: My subdivision entrance has no lights and opens onto a highway where people routinely drive 60-70mph. There is lots of traffic almost everytime of the day and night. I can confirm that I get 0-60mph in less than 10 seconds. I feel very safe gunning my Camry Hybrid!

NEWSLETTER: This hybrid's 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder 2AZ-FXE Atkinson-cycle engine, generating 147 horsepower, is coupled to a continuously variable transmission. Its permanent magnet synchronous motor, which develops 199 foot-pounds of torque at 1500 rpm, produces 45 horsepower. With an ultra-small inverter, a compact 650-volt battery and a transaxle, this system delivers smooth, quiet power without obvious shifting.
NERISSA: I'm laughing because I call my Camry Hybrid "The Glider." None of my passengers to date can tell when I'm accelerating or braking overall. No one ever hears or feels them. I've driven at least 15 friends since buying her months ago.

NEWSLETTER: The economical Camry Hybrid is just as good for the environment. It produces 80 percent less smog-forming emissions than the average midsize car sold today and, like the Toyota Prius, the Camry Hybrid is rated an Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emission Vehicle.
NERISSA: The BIG reason I choose Camry Hybrid! I'm very glad that I increased my MPG by switching to Camry Hybrid from my old Geo Prism, but I'm even happier that the Camry Hybrid is infinitely nicer on the environment.

NEWSLETTER: You may know that the 2007 Camry has been redesigned from end to end, with a new chassis, body, interior, accessories and drivetrains. The new models are more stylish, athletic and modern than their predecessors, even though they've preserved a roomy interior, comfortable ride and low noise levels.
NERISSA: Man oh man, the video I made showing it's body doesn't do the curves and twists justice. I'm not a car body appreciando by any means but this Camry has curves combined with aerodymics that are just...artful. When you peer down the body as you move your head up and down Camry's height you'll see what I mean. I tried to capture it on video but it's very subtle on video and needs to be seen in person.

P.S - I tend to misidentify Lexus as Camry Hybrids a lot. Same body? Surely not, but geez they are so similar!

How Nerissa Attracted a Brand New Car!

My love has written about me and the new car on his blog, MrFireBlog.com

Joe writes a lot of great stuff about how to manifest things into one's life. In this case, he wrote about me and my new Camry Hybrid! He has a picture of me and the car at the dealership on his blog.

I decided to attract a Camry Hybrid after looking at the Prius and deciding it was too small. I test drove a new Camry. Geez! I couldn't stop thinking about how I felt riding in the car. Very roomy, comfortable, with lots of cubby holes to hold stuff. Holding on onto that feeling was what made the universe shift for me.

I fully intended to finance the car this summer, but Joe beat me to it and bought it outright for me! - WOW! - I asked him if I had still manifested the car myself and he said, "Yes, of course! The 'how' doesn't matter. It's here. It's yours. Literally because of your desire to own one, it manifested."

Camry Hybrid Road Trip!

My first road trip in the Camry Hybrid! I went to north Austin to spend time with my long time friend, Deana Dossey and stop by at my mom's place. Deana took these photos:

For perspective, my car for the past 13 years was the 4-door Geo Prizm LSI manual (a Toyota engine in a GM body) so you can imagine that I need to get used to driving a larger car. And driving IH35 from San Marcos to Austin for is no walk in the park, no matter what car you drive. (IH35 is the NAFTA artery that splits the US in half from Mexico to Canada. It's three lanes and full of trucks driving 70+ miles per hour -- seriously, IH35 looks like one long train of 18-wheeler trucks most of the time.) In other words, a driver has to be on their toes.

Luckily my first highway miles didn't include any road ragers or sleepy truckers but I did encounter sudden rain, and bottle necking stop n go traffic. I had to pass a couple questionable drivers quickly and knew immediately this hybrid car had instant strong dependable accelerlation. Keeping tabs on other cars was very easy with the rear view mirror capturing my entire back window and the side mirrors being much larger than my old ones on the Geo. The Camry was a winner.

And comfortable? I kept the AC on the first level at 70 degrees and was totally comfortable. Deana turned her side up to 80 degrees! And the AC is so quiet! The whole car is quiet! We went across town to shop and missed several turns, but neither of us cared--we were having a great conversation (we could hear each other!)and the car was so comfortable to be in that taking an extra 30 minutes to get across town was totally fine! We could have driven to Dallas that day if we had wanted to, and then easily kept going to Oklahoma City, safely and comfortably.
